The smart way to browse Seaford

Seaford is an unincorporated hamlet on the eastern edge of the Town of Hempstead, beside the Oyster Bay town line, and its inventory is single-family houses, from postwar Capes near the downtown to canal-front homes toward the bay. Two structural details do the most work when you compare listings here: the school district, which is drawn at the parcel rather than by the community name, and the flood picture on the blocks nearer the water. Set the type first, then beds and price, and when a listing deserves a closer look, you reach a named Leatherman Homes associate who works this market.

For the full read on how Seaford is organized, covering the Seaford Union Free School District, the electric Babylon branch, and what to weigh before you buy, start with the Seaford guide. To place it inside the wider market, the Town of Hempstead guide and the Nassau County guide cover the township and the county.

Seaford listings: common questions

What kind of homes are for sale in Seaford?

The Seaford market is single-family houses, from postwar Capes near the downtown to canal-front homes toward the bay. Most of what you will see is single-family; where condos or co-ops appear they are in smaller numbers, so expect shorter lists behind those filters.

I was stumbling through shopping for a home and had no idea what I was doing. I was working with a mortgage banker that was not supportive or helpful. I got extremely lucky and found Kevin. He connected me to a mortgage banker at PNC that he had worked with previously. Talk about the "dream team"! Before I knew it we found our ideal house, the financing went through, and we were at the closing table. I don't think it would have happened without Kevin and his team. They were remarkable and we are extremely grateful. I highly, without hesitation, recommend Kevin Leatherman.

Great job getting the sale of my parents' home accomplished. Due to unexpected wrinkles, we had what I am sure must be the longest contract in history, but Kevin kept it all running smoothly, and our buyer waited 7 months! I'm sure Kevin had a hand in that.

Knowledgeable, involved, helpful, and stayed with us through the rough patches. Keeps a sense of humor and offered encouragement and support. Highly recommended!

Good guy,did more than he should have to make me happy! After discovering there were necessary permits needed that the homeowner wasn't going to get, I said forget it.Kevin paid for the permits which was clearly the homeowners responsibility.I didn't think he should have.

I really like Kevin. He is a normal guy and wants to help you with what you want to be helped with. He asked me what I was looking for and told me he believed we could find it and I felt he was telling the truth and not wasting my time. He is dedicated to the sale and worked to get it done ASAP since that's what I needed. I am happy in my new home. Only comments on the negative side to keep this real is that he is very busy with other clients (not a major issue) and that I had to find the best listings myself including the one for the house I'm living in now. But I personally don't have a major gripe with these things. After the sale, Kevin sent me several housewarming packages that were very nice and let me know that even months later his clients still get his appreciation. I'd highly consider using Kevin again in the future.

My husband and I had a fairly tricky situation and we couldn't be more satisfied and genuinely happy with how Kevin Leatherman and his office handled the entire process of selling our property. As former owners of a cooperative apartment, the process of selling has more layers and parties to deal with, but that was no hindrance to Mr. Leatherman and his team whatsoever. He successfully negotiated the price we needed and adeptly navigated the process with the Board and Management Company effortlessly. Mr Leatherman was an absolute pleasure to deal with on a personal level, tended with great care to our needs and is the consummate professional who never leaves you hanging. We highly recommend him. You will not be disappointed with his service. He and his office go above and beyond what's needed to get the job done. We are extremely grateful and ridiculously happy we selected him to handle the sale of our Co-op. ~~ The Barclay's.

Kevin Leatherman was our broker on the sale of a co-op apartment in Rockville Centre, NY. He was extremely knowledgeable, and was a pleasure to work with. Through his skills, our property was sold for more than the asking price. He knew the market perfectly, and everything was handled with no problems. We would strongly recommend him to anyone in the area with a property to sell.

Working with Kevin was nothing but a pleasure! About 1 hour from initial contact, I was able to see the unit I was interested in. Kevin & his team were the perfect liaisons in purchasing my first home. Everything was done professionally and in a timely manner. Will definitely recommend to anyone searching for a new property.

My wife and I had a great experience working with Kevin. As first time home buyers we had a lot of questions and apprehension about the entire process. Kevin and his team were very patient and accommodating. They always made themselves available for showings and were quick to provide comps and valuation advice making us confident during the offer process. Kevin has a great understanding of the markets he supports and a great network of real estate professionals as well. He was able to connect us with equally talented mortgage bankers and attorneys which made the closing process very smooth and successful.

Kevin found our co-op for my wife and me. Throughout the process, Kevin was sensitive to our needs and responsive to our calls. He did not waste my time showing me co-ops that I would not be interested in buying. I will use him again (if I ever move again!).

Kevin's help in the sale of my Coop was unparalleled as to any other recent real estate transactions. He is totally professional and a gentleman. Without his help the sale never would have happened. He has my utmost respect.

I first met Kevin Leatherman during the spring of 2011 when I decided to sell my co-op in Valley Stream. I made the mistake of choosing another real estate agent instead of Kevin and was locked into a 6-month contract with this agent. In the 6 months she represented me, she brought in four prospective buyers and everyone of them either had some problem where they wouldn't qualify to purchase my home (credit score, annual income, 20% down payment, etc...) or they just didn't seem serious about buying a home. When the real estate agent's contract was up, I immediately signed up with Kevin. He brought six prospective buyers in to look at the place the first month AND found a buyer. The sale of the co-op went smoothly and my wife and I told Kevin we wanted him to represent us in the search for a single family house in Suffolk. Kevin took us to numerous properties and we finally found our dream home in Commack which we closed on in April 2012. Kevin's dedication to his clients is incredible and he spent so much time with us going to homes that were for sale while we were searching for a house. I like to think that 'things happen for a reason' and that by not going with Kevin initially when I was trying to sell my condo made everything 'fall into place' if you will. He sold our co-op in a matter of weeks and we found our current home after it had only been on the market for a short while. The praise I've given Kevin does not begin to do him justice with all of the hard work and expertise he used in order to help my wife and I find our dream home. We couldn't be happier living in our house in Commack. My wife and I recommended Kevin to a couple that we're friends with that wanted to sell their apartment in Forest Hills as they were planning on moving to New Jersey. Sure enough, Kevin found them a buyer shortly and got them a selling price that was more than what they expected. Kevin did this for us as well. I would have been willing to go lower with the sale price of my co-op in Valley Stream and I would have been willing to pay more for the house in Commack but this was not necessary after Kevin was done negotiating with the other real estate agents that were representing their clients. If you're looking to sell your current home or are in the market to buy a new one, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend Kevin Leatherman.

A busy guy with a good staff.. Thank you Linda.. who kept me up to date with necessary info about what was going on, while i was out of state. He basically advised me and gave me the necessary pros and cons of each move. CLEARLY.. easily understood.. We we in sync during the entire process. This market is still not completely clear what is going to happen.. there are still many twists and turns which sometimes take a quick response and quicker thinking. In this market got to get it sold, no time to waste. I would defiantly recommend Kevin to anyone who was looking for a great agent.

I went through over 10 other realtors in 10 months before finding Kevin and instantly knew he was the real deal. Kevin and his staff were knowledgable and professional and made the whole process less stressful!
